NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

TMC today announced that eight of the most influential voices in the growth of “Internet Telephony” will celebrate 20 Years of VoIP in a special session held during TMC's ITEXPO Miami, January 27-30, 2015, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The “20 Years of VoIP” panel takes place Wednesday, January 28th at 10:00am.

ITEXPO is the leading business technology event that brings together IT professionals and experts to explore the latest technology and trends in VoIP, M2M, SDN, cloud, WebRTC, unified communications and much more - but it began 17 years ago with the early-stage version of VoIP.

The “20 Years of VoIP panel will explore the innovation VoIP has propagated. The discussion will be led by ITEXPO conference chairman Rich Tehrani and will include many of the innovators and visionaries that literally spawned the industry two decades ago.
Panelists Include:

  • Andy Abramson, Comunicano, Inc., CEO, Founder
Launched one of the first blogs on the IP communications market… Andy watched it all happen and was never afraid to give his candid opinion on where the tech was heading.
  • Alon Cohen, Phone.com, EVP/CTO
Responsible for developing the first commercial VoIP software at VocalTec
  • Jeff Pulver, Zula, CEO; Founder of Vonage and the VON Conference
Famous for lots of things, including being the founder of Vonage, and launching the VON tradeshows. He also helped the FCC decide to not regulate certain types of IP communications and is a vocal advocate of net neutrality.
  • Michael Tribolet, YIPTV, CEO/Founder
Was VP of Operations at DialPad, the President of Vonage and the Chief Business Officer at magicJack VocalTec.
  • Andy Voss, Sansay, President/CEO
Andy and his company Nuera Communications were both leaders in the voice over frame relay space – before VoIP ever existed. Today, Sansay is a market leader in SBCs.
  • Craig Walker, Switch Communications, Founder & CEO
The man behind Dialpad Communications – the dotcom sensation as well as GrandCentral Communications and UberConference. Basically, he was responsible for the communications systems Yahoo and Google provide us today and more.
  • Danny Windham, Digium, Chief Executive Officer
President of Adtran for 17 years and is the current CEO of Digium – the company behind the open-source communications platform known as Asterisk.

“You can't do justice to a panel like this with words – these people truly changed the world of not only communications but technology. SIP trunking is saving companies billions of dollars because IP communications was developed. Free video on your phone and computer are thanks to the developments made in this industry. The flexible systems which allow phone calls to follow us around today are also thanks to many of the accomplishments of the people on this list and others,” explained Tehrani.

“The last 20 years have been incredibly disruptive and I have a strong hunch these people will have a strong sense of what the future will bring. Be sure to come to ITEXPO next week in Miami and see this panel,” Tehrani added.
